With over five decades of experience across sectors,

structuring successful joint ventures and leading

investment-driven residential developments,

founding director Ray Theakston strategically aligns

procurement approaches with investor objectives,

maximising project value and minimising risk.

Ray's experience of MMC adoption and successful implementation pre-dates MMC as we know it today, most notable being the responsibility for the delivery of four system-built hospitals in Algeria in the 1980's.

Prior to Callidas Ray was Construction Director for Essential Living, which followed senior management roles in JV construction management partnerships

with Heery International and Mace.

Johan Liebenberg

With over two decades of technical expertise in managing large-scale regeneration projects in Technical Manager and Project Manager roles, Johan drives meticulous coordination and integration of the constituent parts of projects across disciplines.

His commercially minded approach focuses on design and supply-chain optimisation that informs compliance strategies and appraisal cost data validation at an early stage of project design, then knowing how to bring it all together.

With an undeterred drive for quality, Johan is passionate about

getting under the skin of client requirements and exploring best

value, engineering efficiency across the project value chain.

Some of Johan's experience prior to joining Callidas includes

roles with Battersea Power Station DevCo, Quintain,

and Berkeley Group.

The Callidas partnership was born from a unique collaboration, bringing together diverse yet complementary backgrounds and a unified vision of innovative and effective project delivery.

Shortly after the company's inception, Johan, acting in a client capacity, engaged Callidas to validate an ambitious and disruptive procurement strategy aimed at optimising the adoption of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) - a concept not yet formalised by recognised frameworks back then.

And so, a partnership was established, rooted in a shared vision of advancing construction project delivery.

Together, their combined experience and aligned vision form the cornerstone of our motivation at Callidas, enabling us to deliver exceptional, innovative, and robust project outcomes that navigate and capitalise on today's evolving construction landscape.
